Joel helped lead the establishment of the tax practice at CFGI and currently serves as its managing partner. He is responsible for establishing and executing on all strategic objectives, client service delivery models, business development, recruitment, internal tax policies & procedures, mentoring and infrastructure build-out.

He has over 20 years of experience providing tax consulting and compliance services to numerous clients in a variety of industries. In addition to firm management issues, Joel continues to concentrate on providing his clients with tax provision calculation and review assistance (accounting for income taxes, ASC 740), income tax return compliance, tax control identification and testing (Sarbanes-Oxley section 404), uncertain tax position assessments and monitoring of tax positions on financial statements (ASC 740-10) as well as other federal tax issues.

At CFGI, Joel continues to serve a variety of publicly traded and privately held companies in a wide array of industries including technology, software, bio–technology, pharmaceutical and industrial manufacturing from startup (pre-revenue) to multibillion dollar companies. Joel prides himself on providing all of his clients with superior service by leveraging his technical expertise while delivering timely and cost-effective solutions.

At CFGI, Joel routinely serves as an interim Tax Director for his clients. In addition, he works alongside his clients as a team member, providing support to each company’s internal finance and accounting teams. Additionally, Joel has assisted numerous companies through the IPO process, including all tax aspects of the S-1 filing requirements while serving as the interim Director of Tax. While in these roles he routinely assists with tax accounting matters such as revenue recognition for tax, valuation allowance assessments, tax reform, state and local tax, credits and incentives and other tax technical matters.

Prior to joining CFGI, Joel was a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at a boutique tax consulting firm in Boston for six years, owned and operated an independent corporate tax consulting firm for four years, and spent seven years as a tax manager at a big- four public accounting firm in Boston.

Joel graduated from Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has membership in both the AICPA and Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
