James is a Managing Director with CFGI, providing accounting and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries. Since joining CFGI, James has served as an interim controller at a biotechnology accelerated filer with over $7B of market capitalization where he oversaw the financial reporting process for the 10-K and 10-Q while their controller was on maternity leave. He was the primary reviewer of SOX 404 controls related to stock-based compensation, investments and reviewing journal entries. He oversaw the adoption of ASC 842 while working with management’s external expert. Additionally, he has assisted on assessing license, collaboration arrangements and variable interest entities.

Prior to joining CFGI, James was an Audit Senior Manager at KPMG in Boston. At KPMG, he participated in financial statement audits of various international clients across industries, including U.S. GAAP SEC registrants subject to SOX 404 requirements and companies listed on exchanges outside of the U.S. which reported under IFRS. During his public accounting experience, James evaluated SEC clients’ internal controls over financial reporting by developing narratives and flow charts of key processes and testing internal controls to assess design and operating effectiveness. He was also responsible for managing the audit team and project managing client personnel to ensure timely completion of the project. Additionally, James provided a full array of client services related to business combinations, derivatives, earnings per share calculation and reporting, going concern and domestic and international debt and equity offerings. He worked with clients through a variety of complex business issues including shareholder actions and short seller attacks.

James holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in Finance and a Masters of Science in Accounting from Suffolk University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts.
