Mr. Rivas is a Managing Director in the CFGI New York office, providing accounting and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries.

Mr. Rivas has significant experience concentrated in the high growth technology sector and restructuring efforts supporting Venture Capital & Private Equity sponsored organizations as well as the SaaS, Internet, Retail and Technology industries. His areas of expertise include financial reporting and consolidations, ERP systems implementations, payroll and HR compliance and support, strategic resource planning, cash management and forecasting and audit, SOX and tax planning.

Mr. Rivas has held various roles on finance and accounting teams, including corporate controller, vice president of finance and, division finance head across the technology and publishing industries. Recently, Mr. Rivas served as the division finance head of a $100MM division spearheading the valuation, purchase accounting and audit for the division while down two key leadership roles. In his efforts, he identified headcount synergies and reduced overall accounting headcount by 20% while bolstering reporting, the reconciliations process and building a more efficient function equipped to support the division. In his role at one technology company, he coordinated the S-1 filing process with lawyers, auditors, consultants and management along with driving a more efficient close process to ready the organization for public reporting. At another technology firm, he drove contractual changes with lawyers and business leadership to change the firm from a data processing organization to a SaaS business for a bolstered valuation multiple and then assisted them in securing a revolving line of credit facility.


Prior to CFGI, Mr. Rivas spent 4 years as the Sr. Director of corporate finance and reporting at a high-growth Technology business that grew from $50MM to $750MM in revenues. In his corporate and interim roles, his responsibilities have included oversight for all aspect s of accounting, including revenue, payroll, cash management and treasury, project accounting, equity accounting and taxes and month end close process, preparing monthly board packages and management reporting packages, preparing U.S. GAAP financial statements, supporting FP&A related activities and assisting in the preparation of operational budget processes, analyzing financial results to ensure accuracy and support monthly management reporting and managing all tax filings.

Mr. Rivas used his experience in the corporate controller roles to identify areas of improvement to streamline the close process. He assisted in the design and

review of VSOE analysis in connection with a company’s complex multi-element revenue recognition activities, as well as a billing analysis to accurately record revenue and shorten the monthly close window.

His team at a Boston based technology firm consolidated the overall accounting and HR functions of the three decentralized entities with multi-million dollar revenues on a standalone basis, implemented efficiencies within their shared service model to reduce finance administration costs, created functional teams to support the company’s growth, automated all transactional areas by working with information systems and external consultants and developed the company’s first set of accounting process documentation and risk assessment. At this same company, Mr. Rivas performed, designed and managed all aspects of acquisition accounting and financial integration efforts for six acquisitions ranging in purchase price of $60MM and $700MM and the company’s sale of variable interest entities, including coordination of valuation firm work and the debt refinancing activities and participation in the confidential offering memorandum process.


Prior to CFGI, Mr. Rivas also held a manager role in the reporting and analysis group at the world’s largest real estate brokerage based in Los Angeles. In his role at this company, Mr. Rivas was responsible for managing the team that handled all U.S. acquisitions post close to ensure proper purchase accounting and integration into the company’s consolidated financial statements, managing the quarterly and annual external financial and SOX audits performed by external auditors and coordinating within accounting/finance for the delivery of required schedules and reports in connection with the preparation of the financial statements. Mr. Rivas assisted with accounting research and interpretation of promulgation of transactions and/or acquisitions the company entered into or was contemplating, including lease accounting, fair value accounting, acquisition accounting, and impairment accounting. Mr. Rivas managed the day-to-day management reporting and analysis deliverables for the U.S. segment of the company. Mr. Rivas also designed and performed key finance integration deliverables for the company’s acquisition of a $2Bn full-service real estate entity, resulting in full ERP and reporting integration in six months post-close. Mr. Rivas began his career at PwC.

Mr. Rivas graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting and from Boston College with a Master of Science in Accounting.
