Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence
The question CFOs ask is no longer “can AI work?” It is “how do we make it real?” Between 2022 and 2026, AI became 200 times cheaper, eight times more adopted, and significantly more capable. The runway for waiting is gone.

AI economics are settled. The question has shifted from “can AI do this?” to “how do we make it real?” Three compounding forces are driving that urgency across every Finance function.
Every Finance function hits the same wall. Close cycles, AP exceptions, AR collections, reforecasting, treasury aggregation, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance all scale super-linearly with growth. The CFO can’t hire fast enough, and shouldn’t have to.
Felt by: Controller • FP&A • Tax • Treasury • AP/ARInconsistent close data, poor invoice data, fragmented AR, non-traceable forecasts, delayed bank feeds, and tax-light GL data all erode confidence in reported numbers. The expectation is for every number to be validated and explainable.
Felt by: CFO • Controller • Risk • Audit • TaxFrom cost savings and working-capital actions to forecasting, collections, planning, and tax, value is identified but not consistently realized in the numbers. Pilots and programs without proven impact are being paused.
Felt by: CFO • Controller • Risk • Audit • TaxThree compounding shifts in economics, adoption, and capability quietly closed the runway for putting AI to work. Standing still is now a measurable loss.
AI inference costs have fallen roughly 200x since 2022. Every CFO has the budget to act, or needs to find the budget to act. The economics argument is settled. What remains is the execution challenge.
In 2023, cautious boards asked “where do we pilot it?” Today, AI-maturity questions surface at deal tables and audit committees. Being AI-naïve in 2026 is no longer caution. It is a risk that shows up in valuation conversations.
Frontier AI models now outperform human experts on domain benchmarks. The constraint is no longer model capability. It is the operating model around it. The race has moved to who can actually run AI in the data flows and controls that Finance is built on.
Not in a lab. In your close, your journals, your audit, your regulator, and the person who signs the number. If AI cannot hold up in those five places, the rest of it does not matter. That is where CFGI focuses.
Published outcomes from AI in Finance have moved past anecdotal. Across third-party research, three numbers keep showing up.
Cycle time reduction in transactional Finance: procure-to-pay, reconciliations, and the close, where AI proves it can run in production.
McKinsey, IBM IBVImprovement in forecast accuracy when AI removes the spreadsheet consolidation that absorbs most of the planning cycle.
BCG, IBM IBVOperating cost reduction in collections, treasury, and tax compliance, durable only when governance is built in from day one.
C&R, Ripple, SuperAGISpeed pays back first in transactional work. Quality and value compound in judgment-heavy work. Here is where the published numbers fall.
The bulk of Finance functions today sit in early-to-middle stages of AI maturity, running pilots and selectively automating workflows, but not yet integrating AI across the function. The story below is where most clients are, and where the leaders are going.
AI is discussed but there is no strategy. Pilots are fragmented and uncoordinated.
Teams run pilots on low-risk, narrowly scoped use cases with clear success criteria.
AI is embedded in selected workflows with measurable outcomes. Governance begins to form.
AI is integrated across Finance with clear ownership, policies, and outcome measurement.
AI is part of the company’s DNA, driving strategy and new business models.
Moving from Operational to Integrated is where the next two to three years of Finance AI investment will be decided. CFGI engages clients at every stage.
Most firms force a choice: AI advisors who don’t know Finance, or Finance advisors who don’t know AI. CFGI is built differently. We stay with clients across the full seven-stage journey, not just the strategy phase.
Every first engagement is scoped to weeks, not quarters, with a tangible deliverable at the end. The phase your answers cluster in is the right starting point. There is no wrong entry.
A focused leadership session preceded by executive alignment interviews and a readiness intake covering AI maturity, Finance pain points, data and technology readiness, and governance posture. CFGI facilitates the working session, maps the art of the possible against your function’s reality, and aligns the leadership team on ambition and success measures.
You leave with a shared view of where you stand, two or three pilots worth starting, and a defensible activation path your board can stand behind.
Start the conversation →Takes your prioritized use cases and builds the operating model that makes them production-ready and audit-defensible. CFGI works alongside Finance leadership, transformation, audit, and risk to design the target operating model, including roles, decision rights, oversight, the Responsible AI governance framework, risk taxonomy, control library, and human-in-the-loop protocols that satisfy SOX and external audit.
You leave with a designed, governed, fundable plan ready for the build phase that follows.
Start the conversation →CFGI supports the build and deployment of the agents and workflows scoped in design, integrated into your ERP, close, and reporting systems, with human-in-the-loop checkpoints, audit trails, and KPI tracking running from day one. We support implementation, controls validation, change management, and adoption, working alongside your team until the use case is live, governed, and producing measurable outcomes.
Each successful deployment establishes the foundation and playbook for activating adjacent use cases as you’re ready to scale.

| Where Are You Today? | 01: Diagnose | 02: Design | 03: Deploy |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI vision and leadership alignment | Different leaders see it differently, with no shared direction. | Vision is set; we need to design the operating model and governance. | Vision and design are done; we’re ready to build and run AI in production. |
| Use-case identification and prioritization | Still exploring; no prioritized list, no business case yet. | Prioritized list exists; need architecture and governance design. | Use cases prioritized and designed; ready to build and deploy. |
| Responsible AI governance and controls | Not started. We have not framed what governance we need. | Designing the framework, controls, and policy now. | Framework is built; operating live governance with controls running. |
| Operating model: roles, data, architecture | Nothing scoped yet; need to understand what AI changes. | Designing roles, decision rights, data, and architecture now. | Operating model is designed; we’re running it and need execution help. |
| AI in production with measurable outcomes | We’re upstream of this. We need to find the value before we can prove it. | Designed for production but not yet built and deployed at scale. | AI is in production; we need to operate, govern, measure, and scale it. |
This perspective was developed by CFGI’s AI Campaign Team, practitioners with deep Finance domain expertise and hands-on experience deploying AI in production Finance environments.
Whether you are aligning leadership, designing the operating model, or deploying AI into production workflows, CFGI brings the Finance domain expertise and AI capability to get there without the build-and-test cycles that cost other firms years.
