Brian is a Partner with CFGI, providing operational and technology transformation services. Brian has built a reputation as a leader with executive presence and the ability to collaborate at all levels to deliver operational improvements and revenue expansion. This is, in part, due to his strong ability to think well beyond the status quo to implement meaningful solutions for numerous organizations. His unique combination of an accounting and finance background paired with his strong risk and operational expertise sets him apart from others in the field. His career has been marked by consistently implementing key initiatives for technology, new products, and process improvements. Prior to joining CFGI, Brian served as the Chief Risk Officer for seven years for Northeast Bank, one of the top-performing banks in the nation within its asset size. Previously, Brian served as a Managing Director at CFGI for four years and as an Audit Manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP for six years.

Brian’s skills include strategic and empowering leadership; risk management; project management and implementation; and process implementation and improvements. Brian has proven experience serving as a strategic leader captaining the Enterprise Risk Management, BSA/AML and Compliance department while also leading the Security & Fraud department. As Information Security Officer, Brian ensured reliable service delivery during the pandemic with no interruption to productivity or security for a company that made 2020 and 2021 the company’s most profitable years. Brian served as Interim Chief Financial Officer while maintaining duties as Chief Risk Officer and led several process improvement initiatives, including review of BSA/AML rules parameter settings of technology that resulted in slashing the number of transactions requiring manual review by 50%. Brian also led accounting and due diligence efforts for a $900M public merger.  

Brian has proven experience in relationship building by quadrupling the number of company vendor partnerships in a 4-year period, all while streamlining and automating the Third-Party Relationship Management process using third-party software to guarantee adherence to regulatory requirements.  Brian routinely represented his employer in a variety of key external partnerships, including regulators, auditors, investors, and third-party vendors.  

Brian has proven experience in leading and supporting efforts for bottom-line impact, including nearly tripling revenues from $51.8M to $150M over a 6-year period. Brian partnered with a Fintech company to originate more than $2.8B in loans for over 30,000 borrowers in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Brian led the implementation of a revenue-dependent model, moving from a fixed-cost structure that resulted in the reduction of an extra $400k in annual expenses. 

Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Isenberg, Amherst, MA. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
