Tom Carr is a Partner in CFGI’s Valuation Services practice and leads the firm’s Complex Financial Instruments (CFI) valuation working group. Tom has over ten years of experience in derivatives valuation and nearly five years of experience with equity valuation. Throughout his career, Tom has worked with operating businesses around the globe and in a wide variety of industries. Tom has also provided valuation solutions to business development companies, hedge funds, private equity groups, and other investment vehicles. 

Tom is a specialist in derivatives and other complex financial instruments. Tom has extensive experience with fixed income, mortgage-backed, asset-backed, and other structured products, contingent consideration, high-yield and convertible debt, options and warrants, carried interest structures, model validation, over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, loan guarantees, and others. Tom is skilled in complex modeling, such as Monte Carlo simulation, for various applications such as fair value for financial reporting, gift and estate planning, management planning, leveraged buyouts, etc. 

Prior to joining CFGI, Tom served as a charter member of RSM US LLP’s complex financial instruments team, performing and reviewing valuation work for financial reporting and tax purposes. Tom also worked on the internal pricing and valuation team at SAC Capital Advisors LP, a leading long-short equity hedge fund in Stamford, CT. 

Tom has a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) in Finance from the University of Maryland. He is a CFA charterholder.
